I've been thinking about Halloween costumes for my kids, so let's talk Halloween: For those of you who went to Two Rock (sorry, Karl), what did you make your paper bag into for the paper bag parade? Also, did you like that idea, or not?
I always wanted to wear my regular Halloween costume, since Mom made awesome ones, but I appreciated the creativity aspect, and Mom said it was to level the playing field, with the migrant worker kids that went there, so I was cool with it.
I remember being:
A cabbage patch kid (looked like Merlina, with a pacifier and stuff)
A gypsy (won that year)
A computer... that was also a red sox fan (I finished too early, so I kept adding stuff)
Note the floppy disc drive and the disc storage thing above it! and oh my goodness, I think I'm holding a cord! |
I'm betting Karl would have been something sports related... or a plain paper bag. :)
The only year I went to Two Rock was Kindergarten, and I was actually sick on the day of the Halloween parade, so Mom took my picture in our front yard after the fact. I was a white bunny. Wait, Karl didn't go to Two Rock?
ReplyDeletePoor Kari. Yeah about karl. pretty sure. We have to redo the sib school chart. Next post.
Deletewhen i read this post, i had that very picture in my mind!
DeleteI remember being a boy scout and an oreo cookie. For the oreo cookie costume I remember dumpster diving for cardboard on base.
ReplyDeleteDid you try asking the pizza place for cardboard circles first but they were too small?
Deletei love that you were an oreo. that's awesome.
Deletei only went to two rock for sixth grade, so i was kind of over the whole costume thing, but i'm pretty sure i decorated mine as a cat. and it was pretty awful-looking. i remember mom telling me it was okay that mine wasn't the best-looking paper bag thing. haha.
ReplyDeletealso, i don't believe any photos of my paper bag mask were taken.
DeleteWhat mom said- hilarious!!!
DeleteI think I was a dragon one year, but the one I really remember was a Capri Sun drink. The toilet was my good friend Jose's idea. He was the best artist in the class. It was better than everyone's but he didn't win and a lot of people in my class felt that that he should have won. 3rd (or 4th?) grade scandal!
ReplyDeleteYES WAY, JOSE!
DeleteEveryone loved that toilet. He was robbed!
